A Letter To My High School Best Friends

Hey guys,

As winter break comes to a close, so does all the time we have been spending together over the last month or so. This last month I have had so much fun catching up with all of you. Granted, I text almost all of you on a daily basis, but it just isn't the same as being together. Yes the group chat still lives on, but when we are all together in the same room, without a care in the world, there is nothing quite like it.

I just wanted to let you all know that, no matter what happens, no matter where our lives take us, I will always love you all. You wonderful ladies will always have a special place in my heart, and I will always be there for each and every one of you. This winter break has helped me remember why we all became such good friends in the first place. I will never forget all the lessons you have taught me. Whether you know this or not, I look up to all of you. All of you have something that I wish I had as well. From your drive, to your humor, and everything in between, you all inspire me each and every day.

I honestly cannot believe what we have managed to do in a year. We took our last high school finals, graduated, got into college, started college, moved away from home, and so so much more all in the span of 365 days. I would not have been able to do any of those things without your help.

I wish for only the best for each and every one of you. I know you will all go on to do great things, and I cannot wait to hear about them. I cannot wait for the next time we can all get together and talk about our lives- past, present, and future. Good luck with next semester, I know you will all do amazing and I can’t wait for all the texts, phone calls, Snapchats, and FaceTime dates to come.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
