Dear High School Seniors,

Before you know it you're going to be in matching cap and gowns in a giant line with your fellow classmates. You're going to receive your diploma, and then you've graduated.

Even though it's only October, your graduation month will be here in a blink of an eye. Really, I know. I am now a freshman in college, and it seems like just yesterday I was in your shoes.

I know senior year can be very stressful, but I have a few tips to make it more enjoyable.

Be yourself. This is very cliche, but its true. Please don't change who you are to please others. You won't see most of these people again after graduation, so be true to yourself and follow the beat of your drum.

Don't take little things to heart. Don't freak out if you get a D on a paper, it's not going to ruin your whole life. At this point, you should be waiting for college acceptance letters. Again, don't freak out. What is meant to happen will happen, whether it's an acceptance letter to your top school or a medium school.

Enjoy time with your friends. You will think you have them for forever, but college send off days will be here before you know it. Your best friend could go to a school across the country. You want to make sure to spend as much time with them as possible. These moments will be with you when you go to college. I miss my friends so much, so cherish them while they're there with you.

You will have fun at prom or ball even if you don't have a date. It's fun to have one, but its always a blast to have your best buds by your side as you dance the night away. Spend that money on that dress, and doll yourself up. You deserve it.

Cherish your parents. You may be annoyed with them now, but they are always there for you. They cook you good meals, and wash your laundry. These things won't be around when college comes. Tell them you love them, and hug them when you can.

Sleep in as much as you can. Seriously. I feel like I have gotten no sleep in college, so sleep in your own bed for as long as you want. Your college bed will be comfy, but just not the same as your own bed.

Live every moment. Do things you never would do. Go outside your comfort zone. Live everyday you walk into that school as a senior.

You will be moving into a dorm in a new place before you know it.

Graduate proudly, and choose the best college you can. Cherish your senior year, one of the best years of your life.

Sincerely,

Me.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
