As the holidays are approaching, many cannot wait until the days they get to spend time with their high school best friends, just like the old times. Ever since everyone has gone off to college, nothing has quite been the same. Sometimes we get to reconnect on the weekends when we all return home. Sometimes you only get to see your friends lovely faces in pictures and over a computer screen through FaceTime. Sometimes our only form of communication is through text messages. As we look back on the times in photographs on how much fun we had, we simply cannot wait to all be reunited again. Holidays give us longer breaks than short visits home do as we reconnect and have fun together. Here are some reasons to be thankful for your high school best friends as you cannot wait to see them again:
Thank you for going through everything first with me.
From first dances to first boyfriends, and even to first breakups we went through it all together. I couldn't have survived the highs and lows with nine great best friends by my side.
Thank you for putting up with me every day.
In high school, you really don't realize how much you see your best friends. You attend school for seven hours Monday through Friday together and then also hang out on the weekends. I'm surprised we didn't get sick of each other more. Thanks for not getting annoyed with me too much when we basically were always attached at the hip.
Thank you for supporting me.
We supported each other no matter what. We cheered each other on in sports, competitions, etc. Even if there was high school drama, we were always there to have each others' backs
Thank you for keeping me entertained everyday.
Even though a group message with 10 girls was easily the most annoying thing ever it was entertaining in the best ways possible. Never was there a dull moment senior year when we had our "squad" group message in effect.
Thanks for going on crazy adventures with me.
From our senior spring break to painting our anchor at 2 a.m., from to playing hide and go seek in Meijer to whatever we did, it was always so much fun. We made our little town of New Baltimore seem exciting 24/7 when we were together.
Most of all, thanks for surviving high school with me.
I truly did have some of the best times of my life in high school and I couldn't have done it without all of my best friends by my side. From pep assemblies to sporting events and then to prom, we did everything together. Most of all, I'm so proud we managed not to kill each other all those four years together. I cannot wait until we meet again for the holidays and summer.
