Hey you,
I know things feel kind of messed up right now, but don’t worry, that feeling doesn’t last forever. I know that’s what everyone says, and I know that hasn’t happened yet, but I’m you from another time and so you can trust me. I mean, if you can’t trust yourself, who can you trust?
Anyway, I’m the you that’s happy. Like, really, really happy. So happy that I forgot all the things you (I) were ever sad about. Maybe you can talk to me and remind me; maybe that will make you feel better.
I’m here because I wanted to give you a look at all the wonderful things to come. I wanted to show you that all those things that are upsetting you no longer have hold of your feelings. Everything worked out -- it just needed a little time. I know you feel like you want to give up, like things won’t ever change, but they will.
I’m the you that kept going. I’m the you that stuck with it. Look at us now: We’re doing great, just like you always hoped we would. You got done that thing you were worried you wouldn't finish. That person you were mad at apologized, and you forgave them. You're currently surrounded with people who care about you and who support all your hopes and dreams. You let go of the people who were bad for you. It was hard but you did it -- you had to -- and you're so much better off now.
Now, what I can't do is give you all the answers; I'm still figuring them out myself. It's up to you to go down the road I did to get to where I am now -- where we are now. If I told you what to do, then it wouldn't mean as much. Just trust me here when I say you'll figure it out. Maybe not all at once, but you will. The crazy thing about life is that we can't plan out everything. Some things just happen, and sometimes it's better than what we originally imagined for ourselves. Life has a way of throwing us some curveballs, but we always seems to make it out all right in the end, even when we're scared to death that we won't.
So here I am, your future self, just checking in. I'm here to tell you to keep going. I'm here to tell you that all the things that make you question yourself won't even cross your mind one day. I'm here to tell you that there really is no reason to worry. I know, that's the hardest thing to do sometimes, but I promise you that the things to come will surpass even your wildest dreams. Maybe not today, and maybe not tomorrow or even a week or month from now. But one day everything will be OK, so I just came here to try and help you feel OK right now. It's not much, but I've seen from experience that you can handle all of this.
Hang in there, kiddo.
Sincerely,
Future you
