A Letter To My Best Friend's Sorority Sisters

Dear one of the luckiest people in the world,

Hello! for those of you who don't know me, I'm a friend of a friend. Our mutual friend just so happens to be one of my best friends and one of your new sisters. I can't express my excitement for her to be my panhel sister and a member of your chapter. I promise she is a great addition and will make a perfect sister. She has been a wonderful sister and friend to me for years and I know she will be an amazing sister to you. She's a leader, a good listener, a caring friend, and one of the funniest people you'll ever meet. I know you'll love her.

For the first few months of college, my sisters were what got me through all of the tough times. They got me through missing my parents, missing my dog, and most importantly missing my best friends. My friends and I are so close and I missed them more than anything for the first few weeks. Sure I made new friends but nothing could ever beat the best friends I had made back home. A month into school I rushed and found the most perfect home away from home. These girls were amazing, friendly, including, and so so nice. They'll never replace my friends from home but they made coming to college without them so much easier.

I love greek life to death and I love being a sorority woman. I can't imagine my life without having 180 women to count on whenever I need it. I'm only a few months into my first year of being a sister and I don't know where I would be without it. I've met some lifelong best friends in these past few months who mean the absolute world to me. Every minute of being a sister has been the time of my life and I couldn't wait for my friends from home to experience it.

None of my friends rushed their first semester and I was itching for them to find their homes after Christmas break. I hoped and prayed they would all find their perfect homes and I'm certain that they did. I saw all the bid day pictures, the pictures of her throwing what she knows, and the #whyIwentgreek, pictures all over her Instagram. I know she is loving the srat life. So here we are now, and my best friend, your new sister has officially found her new home with you. I am so proud of everything she has done and I cannot wait to see what she's doesn't as a greek woman. Take good care of her. You are so lucky to be her sister and she is lucky to be yours. She deserves the world and I know you and your chapter can give it to her.

Love,

Your amazing sister's best friend,

Maggie

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

19 Lessons I'll Never Forget from Growing Up In a Small Town

There have been many lessons learned.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
