Hey love, yes I’m talking to you. Don’t walk with your head hanging low, keep it up. I know that you’re feeling down, and are unhappy. That’s not okay. That’s not you. It breaks my heart to have your name light up on my phone telling me that you’re upset because of some guy, some guy that makes you feel ignored, putting you down.

I want you to know that you’re worth so much more. You are radiant, hilarious, and have such a full heart that you love to wear on your sleeve. You’re full of life and no one should ever dull that sparkle. Those guys who don’t give you the time of day don’t deserve you. They don’t deserve the love and happiness you’re willing to give them. You don’t need them as much as you think. I’m sure they make you feel special once in a while by sugar coating their words and tell you things that you want to hear. But you're smarter than that.

You are worth more than a guys approval. Listen to me when I tell you, you are amazing. And no I'm not just telling you that because you're my friend, I'm telling you because I've seen it first hand. The right guy will come when the time is right. There's no need to spend your time stressing about them when they only make you feel bad about yourself. You should never feel that way.

Until you do find your Prince Charming which I know you will, you'll always have me. I've been by your side from the beginning of our friendship and will forever be along for the ride. If you're looking for dinner and a movie, I got you covered. I'll even treat because you mean a lot to me. I'll always be here for support and advice no matter the distance between us. Never forget me and all of the other great people you're surrounded by when one guy gets you down. Don't let one person dictate your happiness because you deserve to be happy every single day.

So to the guys that are breaking your heart, tell them goodbye. To the guys who are depleting your self worth, tell them you're worth more than they could ever give you, and to the guys who you want to cry over, tell them you have a million other reasons to smile.

The next time you're feeling discouraged remember to pick your head up. You're strong, independent, and don't need a man. I hope you can read this and feel appreciated. I hope you are able to forget about those guys who are making you feel blue and know I'm always here for you.

Stay Beautiful,

Your Best Friend

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
