A letter to my significant other

It seems like a cliché. But when you have your best friend as your significant other, you can’t help but thank them.

1. Thank you for always being there.

You and I both know we would never be standing today if it weren’t for each other. Through all that life has thrown at us, I am blessed to have you as my backbone for everything. Through the good times, or even the bad, you were always there to celebrate, or hold me and tell me everything was going to be okay no matter what. I cannot thank you enough for that.

2. Thank you for the laughs.

For all the times you made me laugh until my belly hurt, I want to thank you. The stupid jokes we make, the nicknames, the inside jokes, they all seem to make me laugh till I cry. Thank you for that.

3. Thank you for the fights.

Even though we fight, thank you for them. They may be stupid, just like our tickle fights but they have taught me a lot. We always seem to learn more about each other the more we argue, but somehow make up for it 5 minutes later. Thank you for never giving up on me.

4. Thank you for the kisses.

How could I forget, my favorite thank you of all, your kisses. Even though I give you way too many, you seem to enjoy giving them right back. Thank you for all the kisses you give me whether it is me hurting myself or if I’m being annoying for attention. Thank you for the kisses you give me everyday.

5. Thank you for the advice.

Thank you for letting me run to you for advice when I need it. I know you hear all of the gossip that goes on in my life, but thank you for the advice on any situation I need.

6. Thank you for the support.

If it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t be where I am today. With the support you give me, I feel like I can do anything. I am so blessed to have someone who believes in me the way you believe in me.

7. Thank you for the love.

The abundant love you show for me is something that I deeply admire. I am so grateful. Thank you for always caring for me and everything I do. Without you I wouldn’t know what true love actually is. I thank you for that.

It is unbelievable how much love you can have for an individual. I am so grateful that I have someone like you in my life that I can run to when things get rough, that I can trust with my all, and I can love with all my heart. Thank you so much for being my best friend, my significant other, and my soul mate. There is not a day that goes by where I don’t thank you.

Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
