To An Old Friend

Close or not, I still care.

To An Old Friend

We may not be as close anymore, but you impacted my life in a lot of ways.

Friends forever is an easy phrase to use about a friend you really care about, but what happens when forever is a lot shorter than you thought/ Throughout our lives, we meet many people and for relationships with them. Whether they become acquaintances, friends, or best friends, they are a part of our lives.

This is my time to thank you for all the memories I have that involve you. Thank you for growing up with me, learning new things about life with me, teaching me about life, and just letting me into yours. I will never forget all the fun things we used to do, whether we stayed in and watched movies and just talked or went out, these are all memories I will never forget. Simply growing up together and experiencing new things were fun. I am thankful to have a friend like you. Being young can be hard at times, and having good friends like you really made me feel like I was not alone.

Being your friend was great, I always felt like I had some one on my side. Whether it was the biggest problem at the time or a small problem I thought would end my world, you were there to listen. You allowed me to completely freak out, have a total meltdown before helping me calm down and making me realize that life would go on. I hope I allowed you that same comfort. Between movies and staying up late and eating scary amounts of cookie dough and simply talking about everything under the sun, I am glad to have a friend like you.

Nothing horrible happened to us, it is just that sometimes people grow apart, and that is okay. I do not have any negative feelings toward you; I would not be against being friends again. I am thankful to have had you there, during the hard times and the good times. I hope I have had the same effect on you that you have had on me; I hope that if you are ever in need, you can always feel like you can call me. If you are ever questioning if you have anyone on your side, you do. So thank you, thank you for helping me learn about myself and for teaching me what a good friend looks like. I will always think of you when a song we loved comes on the radio or I see a movie we watched an embarrassing number of times shows up on Netflix. I will never forget how much our friendship means to me.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
