Dear President Donald J. Trump,
America is not your reality TV show and you do not get a second take. We do not want more drama for the sake of more viewers. We want a president for our great country, not to see who you are firing every week. We don’t want suspense and the idea of withheld information. When you receive information, especially information about a possible weakness in national security, we don’t want you to give us a long commercial pause before you let us know.
We don’t want you to keep a man who is threatening the safety of our country on the job, just so you can fire him in a dramatic way. We want authority and leadership. We want equality and honesty. When General Mike Flynn calls Russia speaking about sanctions, we would like you to fire him as soon as you find out, and not allow us to continue to be susceptible to Russian blackmail. If you do not want us to believe in your alleged ties with Russia, then you, Mr. President need to do your job. You claim to protect our country from outside forces, which is why you issued a rushed uncoordinated executive order, but the real threat to national security did not seem to prompt you to any action.
We would like you to worry less about taking the rights of transgender children away and more about running a press conference in which a full, cognitive thought comes from at least one of your sentences. We would like your administration to stop worrying about selling Ivanka’s clothes, and to begin research into actual facts that can back their statements, not alternative ones. We would like you to stop screaming alleged claims of fake news and start working to bring Americans news that we can be proud of. We would like you to stop watching Saturday Night Live, and use that time have an intelligence briefing so that you don't have to make up false events in foreign countries. We would like you to stop constantly informing us about how brilliant you are, and start working for the country you are representing. We would like you to not say that questions are too difficult to answer and to stop begging for easier ones.
Mr. President, we want answers. It is unclear if you were aware of this when you took the job, but the entire country looks to you for answers, especially when dealing with hard questions. What are we supposed to do, and perhaps, more importantly, how are we supposed to take you seriously, when you deem questions about the rise of anti-Semitism amongst your supporters and how you feel about it as too hard of a question to answer?
President Trump, we as Americans, would like you to stop treating the presidency like you did your campaign. Responsibility for your mistakes cannot be passed onto Fox News, you are now the man in charge and that makes you responsible for everything that you do. You can no longer speak of crooked Hillary, and you need to stop blaming the areas in which you lack on President Obama. You, President Trump, need to grow up, take accountability for the many things you have done wrong already, and begin to be a President worthy of sitting in the oval office. And please, stop using Twitter.
