Dear college friends,
First off, I’d like to thank you (you all know who you are) for being there for me during this first semester of college. While we were all excited for college and the endless possibilities it would hold, it was also terrifying to think about. I’m forever grateful that I found you all during this transition. You have made my college life so worthwhile and fun.
In the weeks leading up to college, I was nervous about making new friends. I had had a core group of friends that I stuck with throughout high school and it was nerve wracking thinking about having to completely start over. I only knew two people going to my school, and I knew I would soon lose the security blanket I had taken for granted all those years. However, I am so grateful I took this risk because through it, I met all of you. And that decision is something that I would never change.
You have all been so great to me and have helped me to grow in more ways than you will ever know or realize. You’ve helped me to step outside my comfort zone and to not be scared to try new things. Your speeches have also been golden, and you have not been afraid to tell me the truth, even during the times I’ve been hesitant to hear it. Your advice has also been essential and I can’t even count the number of times you’ve all given me your words of wisdom. Whether we’re talking about boys or giving study advice, I want to let you know that none of it goes unappreciated. You’ve helped me to realize how essential our friendship is and how much we really rely on each other.
They say that when you go to college, your friends become your family, but I never fully understood this until I went to college myself. However, speaking now, I can 100 percent agree with this statement. You have all truly become my family and my home away from home. Through you, I’ve come to truly understand that home is not a physical place, but it is where you’re surrounded by those who care about you. It’s hard to believe that we all became friends so recently. Even though it’s only been one semester, it feels as if we’ve known each other for years. Maybe it’s because you all have been so accepting of me, or maybe it’s just due to the fact that we’re all so similar.
Regardless of the reasons though, I’m so happy our paths crossed. You have all become the best friends a girl could ask for and I know that I can always count on you to have my back. I already know for the next three and half years we’ll make so many great memories and continue to grow even closer (if that’s even possible). Thank you all so much for your friendship and for welcoming me into your lives with open arms. You all are the best.
Love,
Brianna
