Dearest Biggie,
Coming from a family where my only sibling is a boy, I always wondered what it would be like to have an older sister. Someone that I can look up to, vent to about my endless boy problems, color coordinate outfits with every time we know we will be together, binge eat our favorite junk food while watching endless episodes of "Pretty Little Liars" and much more. But little did I know that even though I wasn’t granted my wish of getting a sister growing up, eventually I would get blessed with a Big—my non-biological sister and best friend forever.
When I walked through the door on Big-Little Day and saw you standing there waiting for the scavenger hunt you had set up for me to lead me to you, I was so happy. So happy that I screamed at the top of my lungs and later came to find out that everyone in the building heard me. I couldn’t imagine having had anyone else be behind that door.
In such a short amount of time you have become my rock, future bridesmaid—yes, I already have decided that you’re going to be in my wedding party, even though I haven’t found the groom yet—my personal therapist, my role model, soccer mom—all those times you’ve driven me around in your minivan are the reasons I call you this—and best friend.
We have such a goofy relationship that only the two of us will ever be able to understand. From the secret nicknames we have for the boys we like, to the obsession we both have for screaming “SOS” when we need something. Everyone else might think we’re weird but I don’t care, because I know I can be myself around you and we never fail to make each other laugh. Nobody will ever be able to understand the relationship we have but I’m totally okay with that.
Just know that I will always have your back. When someone doesn’t think you can do something, I’ll be there to make them believe in you as much as I do. You may be my Big but that doesn’t mean that you can’t rely on me for help when you need it.
My favorite part about the relationship we have is that we know what each other is thinking without even having to say a word. When we the boy that you’ve been crushing on all semester with the slightest smirk we both start laughing. We have the funniest way of communicating and that makes our relationship even more entertaining. I’m so glad that I got blessed with a Big that is as goofy as me.
Even though you don’t understand my love for sushi, and I don’t get your obsession with Harry Styles, the differences that we have are what makes us the perfect Big and Little pair. I wouldn’t trade having you as my big for the world.
Love you more than I love coffee.
-Little
