Dear Best Friend,

It's crazy how I have gotten so used to you not being by my side anymore. We knew this would happen when we both decided on where we wanted to go to school, but we thought we wouldn't be able to live without each other. We promised daily FaceTime calls and Snapchat streaks, and that we would never lose touch.

I'm so happy we have not lost touch.

Being able to listen to you rant about how warm it is and how your professors are killing you will always make me smile, even if you're so angry about it. You listen to me complain about how cold it is here and how I feel overworked and emotionally drained and you always seem to know just what to say, even though you're not here with me.

In high school, we were inseparable; always walking to classes together even though we did not even have any classes together and always meeting in the bathroom during a class that we just had to get a break from. We were always just right down the hall, not states away. Sure high school was a different time for the two of us, but I really miss it because of you.

I'm really excited to see you again when you come home for break. We'll get to eat Chipotle and drive around blasting our music too loud and making fools of ourselves. It's what we do best, right? I wish we could do it right now; I could really use your smile and goofy jokes right about now.

When I scroll through my camera roll and see old pictures of us I can't help but smile and think of all the memories we have had over the years. We have been there for each other's first heartbreaks and I couldn't thank you enough for being there for me through it all. Crossing my fingers that we won't experience any heartbreak while we're apart because I don't think I could survive one without you.

Sometimes we have our differences and that's okay because we always end up laughing about it in the end. Out of all the friends that I have had over the years, you are the only one who has been consistent and have always kept me positive. So this is my thank you to you, for being my best friend and my person.
