Hi little one. We’ve spent a total of six months together now. In those six short months, I found out about you, listened to your tiny heart beat, felt you kick, learned your gender, watched you grow, named you, and even learned some of your likes and dislikes. So here's a few things you need to hear.. and I'll remind you of them again once you join me outside the womb.
I prayed for you. Although you came earlier than planned, I want you to know that I have been praying for you to be mine ever since I was a little girl. I dreamt about you, what you would look like, what your interests would be, and our relationship together. I pray for you every day. I pray that you are safe, healthy and happy..now and always.
Your timing changed a lot of things... but it does not change how much you are wanted. Your timing changed my priorities, what I do on the weekends and my extracurricular activities. But it also changed the way I look at the world, the amount of love in my heart, and the happiness of everyone you are about to be spoiled and loved by.
You have the best daddy in the world. He is young and doesn't know the first thing about being a dad. But he also has the biggest heart that he has already welcomed you into with excitement and eagerness. Not to mention he does a good job taking care of pregnant me...holding my hair when I'm sick, driving in the middle of the night to buy my latest 'must have right now' craving, and allowing me to take my crazy pregnancy hormones out on him.
Thank you. Thank you for using your kicks and movement to remind me that a growing belly is a good thing. Thank you for listening to my awful singing in the car (even though you have no choice). Thank you for being my entire world. Thank you for giving me the gift of being your mom.
I promise you this. I promise to try my best always. I promise to read to you even when I'm tired. I promise to protect you and keep you safe. I promise I won't hold it over your head that you made me throw up for five months straight (or maybe I will...). I promise to lead by example. I promise to always be here for you no matter what. I promise to raise you to know right from wrong. I promise...you will always be my world.
Love always,
Mom
