Let's Take A Break From Hating Taylor Swift

If hating Swift is the new "cool," I don't want any part of it.

I've been a hardcore "swiftie" for close to ten years now and honestly I'm so sick of seeing all of this hate.

In a world where everyone is working to create peace and defeat hatred and anger, y'all are making it really hard to do. Everywhere I go, every social media account I log on to, I can find at least three hate articles, tweets, instagrams, etc, directly aimed at Taylor swift within the first few minutes I'm logged on. It's amazing actually, to look at these accounts, because they're usually the ones to preach love and acceptance, but they're the ones to constantly send hate to someone.

Now listen, I'm not going to sit here and pretend that my idol is the most angelic person to ever walk on this planet, but c'mon, really? Don't preach love... then create more hate.

Everyone is too busy pointing out her flaws, her mistakes and her current and past relationships, to even remember that she's here for one thing and one thing only: TO MAKE MUSIC.

I mean, we've all got our flaws... why are you so interested in hers?

I'm not saying she's the most amazing artist to be in the industry, that we all need to bow down to her creative skills, that there's no one better than her, because even I know that that's a bold faced lie, but she's here to make music. She's not here to do anything else. She joined the industry to pursue her dreams, and I'm sure that your persistent hatred towards her wasn't in her plan.

NEWSFLASH: Taylor Swift does not exist solely to please you.

Taylor can literally do everything she wants when she wants to, and whether or not you like it, you're helping her out. Your constant bashing is giving her more and more publicity, more publicity means more views, more page clicks, more buys, and more money. So while you're here wasting your time going on rants about how quickly she moves on from a guy, or how, "Kanye is better than Swift", just remember you're giving her all of the fame that you so dearly want taken away from her.

Like I said before, the best part about all of this, is that when I click on the profiles of those who are constantly sending hate to Taylor Swift, they're the ones with the word "feminist" in their bio, the ones preaching about peace, the ones "working to end bullying." But they're the ones who work to bring down other females, and the ones who reflect hate. It just doesn't add up.

PSA: Just because someone is a household name, because someone is rich, because they seem untouchable, doesn't mean that you constantly bashing them and sending them hate doesn't classify as bullying. So get off of your high horse and recognize that you're contributing more to the problem than anyone else. Also, don't consider yourself a feminist if you're always tearing down another female, just don't. We're here to help each other, not destroy each other, which is seemingly your forte.

So basically, get over it. Taylor knew about Kanye's song, Taylor has had relationships, she's written songs about people, sure. But what she's done is not half as bad as what you've done.

The only difference between you, a hater, and Taylor Swift, a celebrity, is that her every move is relayed to billions of people, while your every move is relayed to your mother.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
