There are many people who we consider "friends," but there is one who tends to stand up above the other friends. This is the one we call our "best friend." A best friend is something that is so much more than just a simple friend. They are supposed to be there for you and support you through anything. Yet a best friend is not one who can just come out of nowhere, it takes time and crazy adventures and stories to truly become best friends. Best friends are those who will stick by your side no matter what situations either of you face in life.
Personally, I have been friends with my best friend for six years. We met our freshman year of high school when we had to take the STAR test. Ever since then we have been through so much. From our crazy moments of trying new things to just simple times of watching movies while chilling on the couch. We have been through our ups and our downs through the good and the bad, but through it all our friendship has never failed. Both of us have been there for each other's crazy relationships and new crushes and even to the breakups, but in the end, we have still stuck together through it all. Senior year was one filled with fun from prom to powderpuff and then graduation. We took them on together and had a blast doing it. Even though we both went to different states and different schools for college we haven't stopped talking and when were home, well, forget it -- we're inseparable. Even after six years, we are still constantly learning about each other and growing together.
This is what a best friend is supposed to be; you should be able to go to each other for anything and just be able to laugh and have fun together. Yes, every friendship is going to be different, but at the core of any friendship is the basic concept of connection. No matter what you have to have a connection with the person who is your best friend before the friendship can even start.
In the end, a best friend is someone who you can't seem to not have in your life, no matter how far apart you are. You can go to them and be able to tell them anything and they can do the same for you. Once you know who that best friend is, don't let them go. A best friend is someone who you should cherish and appreciate, as well as someone who reciprocates the same actions towards you. Best friends are so wonderful and so hard to find someone who is a true best friend. In the end, cherish those who are the true friends in your life and work towards continuing to grow with them.
