When people say that they are moving on, most thoughts go to the element of a relationship. But moving on can be related to so much more. You can move on from a job, a relationship, a location, or even a person that you use to be.
We hold onto the things that we believe could be the end of a chapter. We hold onto the security that we felt with a particular situation. We strive to keep the comfort that kept us safe. But at a certain point in our life, we must let go and move on. People may say you are giving up, but you're not. You have done what some have only dreamt of. You have let go of that safety net and you are ready to push yourself to new heights.
If you are in a job that breaks you down on the daily, let it go no matter how safe you feel with your position. If you are in a relationship that seems one-sided, you do deserve better. If you know that you have reached your greatest potential in your current city or state, strive to move somewhere bigger and better. It is okay to be a better you in every shape and form.
I think people are scared to move on because we are afraid of what everyone else around us thinks. We make a lot of moves in our lives to please the people we care about. But in all reality, they should care enough about us to support us in all that we do, even if it is scary for them. Too many people care more about what other think, rather than focus on making themselves happy. If you aren't happy with an element if your life, you cannot fully love who you are. You will lose yourself.
We all need to move on from the negative things that tie us down in life. It is simply too short to do otherwise. If you are that person who's life is fulfilled by having a family, then have a family. If you are the polar opposite and dream of making your career soar, chase that dream. You have to move into the direction that best suits you, not others.
So wherever you are in life, make sure that your life is what you want. If it is time to move on, then move on. Tell yourself that you are not a failure and that everything is going to be okay because it will. Don't stand by and be in a situation that you have no control over. You have control over your life, take advantage of that gift today!
