Some people are blessed to meet, at some point in their life, a best friend. Be it in college or other time of life (though I find most people find their niche in college). I was lucky enough to have met my best friend, Mac, in Kindergarten and these are some lessons she has taught me. Be patient.
Throughout the years Mac has taught me that no matter how big or small the mountain is, a little patience goes a long way. Especially in math.
Be yourself. She has shined in the most exotic outfits that I can only smile and say are adorable. She isn’t afraid of what others think because she’s too busy being happy with herself. That being different isn’t bad, but what sets you apart in the game of life.
Love others unconditionally. Through the hard times and the good times. Maya Angelou has said, “People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.”
Have faith. It’s okay if you don’t believe in God, but have faith that better times are coming, that someone loves you, that every little thing is gone’ to be alright.
Find the little joys in life Like music or taking the dog for a walk. Books and nostalgic Harry Potter memorabilia. Take in all the little moments to lead a life that is less about the breaths you take, and more about the breaths that take you away.
Music is the best way to heal. Every song has a purpose and every purpose has a song. Music is the blood of life that makes the world's problems seem to melt into the background for a moment of joy.
Dreams are just the futures’ reality. If you believe enough in yourself, dreams can come true. Put your heart and soul into it and you’ll get purpose and meaning.
Friends can be forever. No matter what I went through, Mac was by my side, lifting me up. For that, I will never forget her. We will grow old together, singing oldies mashups in the streets of New York.
