Have you ever felt pressured into saying yes to something and instantly realizing you actually would love to say no, but it is too late?

Well, good news: It is never too late.

There have been many instances when I find myself regretting agreeing to something. After the person walks away I feel myself begin doubting myself and anxiety starting to kick in. It could be different situations and different outcomes, but most of the time I feel myself getting uncomfortable, and wishing I had just said “No.”

Then, contemplating how to get out of the situation is much more stressful than just going through with it in the first place, so you accept defeat and push through it.

Saying yes to something you had no intention to do in the first place can be dampening on your happiness. Feelings of stress, anxiety, and discouragement can arise. Do not give up your own happiness, it is always in your control.

Getting put on the spot is a way to be roped into saying yes. I believe that others know it is easy to put people on the spot to get their way. They thrive on getting the correct response simply by putting people on the spot. It is not so much certain individuals, but you will notice that companies utilize this technique as well.

Sometimes, people know you are a passive person and allow any decisions to be made, strictly for feeling too awkward or not wanting to disappoint anyone by saying no.

Do not let the feelings of others or feelings tied to the situation get in the way of your own decision. Remember that you are in charge of you, and only you will look out for you.

If you are asked to be put in an uncomfortable position remember to be selfish, because that is why others are putting you in that position in the first place-- out of their own selfishness.

Do not feel helpless, rude, or let the fear of letting others down keep you from saying no. You must first help yourself before you help others.

It is imperative to remember that you are entitled to a voice, an opinion and a decision.

Start speaking up for yourself. Prove to others you are not to be messed with and that you are your own person. Explain why certain tasks would make you feel uncomfortable and that you do not want to partake.

Nobody but yourself is looking out for your emotional and physical health, your well-being and your thoughts. Stay grounded and always consider the outcome or process before saying, “Yes.”

Even when being put on the spot, I have begun to learn that saying you will think about it is a less harsh answer than saying no, because truly, you will think about it.

Always give yourself enough time to figure out what would work in your best interest, and never be afraid to deny the tasks you would not like to involve yourself in.

It is important to stay level-headed and stay true to yourself.

Determine the feelings that come with saying "yes," and learn how to use the word "no."

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
