I Am The Girl Without A Plan Learning That It's Still Alright To Set Goals

My plans may be a mess, but I still have dreams that need reaching.

I Am The Girl Without A Plan Learning That It's Still Alright To Set Goals

When you are in your teens, you hear a lot of people start saying things like, "I will be married by *insert age here*" and "start a family by age ___."

And my friends, I was right there with them. I thought that was just how life went.

You grew up, got married, had some kids and a family. I assumed that would all happen by some specific age.

Then once I got my first job, I heard some advice that hit me like a brick, and that was this: Don't have a plan, you never know what life will throw at you. And friends, this is VERY true. I took this advice and ran with it like no other and it has been grand. Essentially, I became this girl.

Maybe you are this girl too. Maybe, you're sittin' there living in a bit of a mess and hey, that is totally okay, I am right there with you.

However, lately, I have caught myself being so "anti-planning" that I have stopped goal setting.

I am working on a lot of different things and it feels like life is moving about 8917394 miles per minute but it's as if I am on a train headed nowhere because of my lack of goal setting.

So if you are like me, and not setting goals, let's start.

Holding yourself back is most definitely not going to get you anywhere and while it is fun and alright to go with the flow, it is alright to map things out a little and see where that takes you.

Think of that dream job you have always wanted, or the place that you have ALWAYS wanted to live and start heading that way if it is still something you are feelin' led to do.

You can and are capable of reaching new goals and making changes in your life.

We often times assume that something will come our way if we just wait.

I have heard time and time again that things will happen when the time is right and I AM ALL FOR IT. But, things happen in the right timing even when you are moving. Life isn't going to slow down.

Not to be a downer, but your dream job isn't going to land on your porch. No one is going to drag you out of bed and onto a plane to the places you have always wanted to travel. There is a world out there and things to see and do and be a part of.

You don't need a strategic plan, but it's alright to set a goal and see where the journey to it takes you.

So go for that dream and watch what happens in the midst of it.

Hey, maybe the good Lord will throw something else on your path that will lead you to a whole new season in life.

If your goal is to graduate by a certain time, then hey, you can do that.

If your goal is to study abroad, make it happen.

I might be the girl with no plan, but I am learning that there are some goals and dreams of mine that are worth chasing, I'm sure you've got some too.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
