This last semester has been one for the books that's for sure. Between COVID19 causing everything to be shut down or close and everything going online, many students' last few months of school were abruptly halted.
For some, this means that they didn't get to fully experience their senior years and for them (as well as younger students) it meant not being able to see friends or do any other normal activities. It meant graduating via the internet and not getting to walk across the stage to receive a diploma that was worked so hard for.
But, just because school is out now, doesn't mean we should just sit back and do nothing for the summer. As humans, there is always an opportunity to grow and learn things. It never stops.
And This pandemic may just be one of the best times to learn something new.
And no, learning something new doesn't necessarily just mean being in a classroom or going to summer school. You can learn all sorts of different ways and not even know it.
In fact, simply relaxing outside (or inside, if you prefer) with a good book and reading can be a good way to learn. While it may not seem like much, reading can take you places and show you things you may not have otherwise experienced.
Or maybe there is a new recipe that you have been meaning to try and now that schools over you can. It could even be a new exercise routine that you want to try to meet the goal of becoming healthier and stronger.
For anyone with young children, there are many online sources that can be used as teaching tools and come in the form of fun games. Websites such as Coolmath (which was honestly one of my favorites growing up), ABCmouse (for children in preschool to third grade), PBS Kids, National Geographic Kids, BrainPOP (another one of my favorites growing up, I literally loved it anytime we watched these videos in class), and Funbrain are just a few examples.
And of course, there are TONS of other ways to have fun offline too.
Just because school is out for the summer, doesn't mean the learning should stop.
