Long Distance Relationship

Let me tell you being in a long distance relationship isn't easy. It's one thing imagining what it would be like and another to actually be in one. If you've been in a long distance relationship then you know what I mean. Trust and communication are very important in a LDR.

I've been in three long term relationships and they're all been long distance. So let me tell ya, I know what it's like, the struggles and the joys of it. Even if you've been in one LDR you know what it feels like. It takes two strong committed people to truly be in a long distance relationship.

I never imagined being in a LDR (Long distance relationship) but it's one of those things you really don't plan. Just like love, you don't plan who you fall in love with, it just happens. LDR aren't easy and they don't get easy as time goes by either. When you really love someone the distance doesn't matter but let's be honest, it truly does.

You can't spend time with your significant other as much as you would want to, which it sucks. You can't go over to each other's houses, you can't be each other's dates to events, you can't just sit there and talk to each other face to face.

Although you can't physically be together, there are other ways to communicate. One of my favorite things was the late night phone calls. After a long day coming home to talk on the phone with my boyfriend (at the time) was what I always looked forward to.

Talking on the phone and then falling asleep just listening to him snore always warmed my heart. Even though it made me happy it also made me sad cause I just wished we could be together instead of being apart.

Our Facetime phone calls were also my favorite, being able to see him always put a smile on my face. Even though our calls were meant to end on a happy note, sometimes they would end on a bad note. Sadly, it just happens there's no real way of avoiding it.

Communication is important in every relationship but in a LDR it is 100x more important. You have to be open with you're significant other because they can't read your mind, they can't read your body language because they aren't with you, and they can't see your emotions through texts. If you're not happy tell them, if you're feeling sad don't pretend like you're happy.

BE OPEN!

COMMUNICATE!

Many relationships fail because of communication, unfortunately, that is one of the reasons why my last relationship failed. I thought he was the one, but if it is meant to be it will be.

Maybe not now, but one day in the future.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
