A Day In The Life Of A Lazy Working College Girl

First thing in the morning, my alarm clock goes off. For a few seconds, I refuse to move so I just let it ring. Finally, when the noise annoys me too much, I'll hit snooze and go back to sleep. I repeat this for about an hour, with multiple alarms. Waking up is the biggest chore in a day and I push it off as much as possible.

Then comes actually getting out of bed, another draining task. I usually set my alarms three hours early because I know how long I take to complete the process of getting up in the morning. I have to take into account the time I spend procrastinating by playing on my phone or staring at the ceiling, debating if school or work is worth it.

Eventually, I get up and force myself to do my minimalistic morning routine. I have cut my routine down to two minutes for brushing my teeth, five minutes for makeup, and five minutes to pick out an outfit. Most days, I don't even brush my hair, I just throw it in a bun and walk out of the door. My makeup routine I'm most proud of, just a little contour and mascara is all I need to look like I tried (thanks, Fenty Beauty!).

If I'm headed to work, I know I have to leave 30 minutes early, I will wait until exactly 30 minutes early, that leaves me 10 minutes to sit in the parking lot of my job and force myself to go in. If I'm headed to school I know that I need around 40 minutes to find parking and walk all the way to my classrooms sparing five minutes to chill out before class starts.

Throughout the day, I will procrastinate as much as possible. Assignment due? I'll do it later. Missed call or text? It can wait. Did my boss leave me a list of tasks? I'll get them done by closing time. Do my friends want to go out? They're going to have to pick me up otherwise I probably won't go. Why do now what can be done later or not done at all?

If I have any free time at all, I will use it to nap. Whether I'm at school, at home, in my car, at the beach, I will find a way to nap. Napping is my procrastination heaven. Wasting time without even being conscious for it, amazing.

Finally, the average day is over. I usually even procrastinate going to sleep. Instead of setting all my alarms and showering, I somehow spend an extra hour on my phone or watching TV. It's fun being a lazy girl.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
