Laughing Without Fear of the Future

I am a daughter of God, and I choose to laugh.

Laughing Without Fear of the Future

I've come across a quote recently in my daily devotions that derives from Proverbs 31:25. The instant I read it, I fell in love with it. It reads, "A daughter of God stares unblinkingly into the bright future and laughs, because she knows He's got this, and He's got us." What a brilliant statement, a statement that we wish we all resembled and could uphold. This is something we all can strive towards and work towards.

So what do we do when we are completely lost? What do we do when we feel as though the future holds nothing? What do we do when we are terrified at what lies ahead? What are we to do as Christian women when the future is upon us? We laugh.

We laugh because we know the Lord who holds the universe in His hands, the one who created the earth and everything in it, holds us in His hands as well and calls us precious and beautiful. We laugh because we know His plans are far greater than ones we can imagine. We laugh because we can place our every worry, every fear, and every tear in His hands.

Whether it be worried about college plans, your job interview, or your first date, He's got it, not us. We have not seen the end result, but there is someone who has, someone who loves you beyond all comprehension, and His name is Jesus.

He's placing us in this situation for our good. Not in a good situation, but for our good, so whether that be an opportunity to reach someone unsaved, grow in your faith, or be made more humble and trusting, He is bettering us by placing us in situations that can be initially nerve-raking, yet be used for His glory. Being placed in a situation where the future is unknown and seems daunting, He has not left you or abandoned you, He is not punishing you, He is teaching you patience and trust.

Being terrified at what is to come does not have to be our fate, we can turn it over to Jesus, and what a beautiful truth that is!

Whatever is happening in your life right now, whether it be wonderful or horrible, trust in the Lord. We should not turn to Him only because we are in an uncomfortable position, we should turn to Him all the time, in the good and the bad. Trust in Him through every situation, not just when things are not going your way. Trusting in Him can be unbelievably difficult, it requires your surrender of power, and handing it to God. We need to acknowledge that we do not have control, and always acknowledge that He does, God has control of what lies ahead.

I can have confidence in Christ, and I find this to be the most beautiful truth I have ever heard. I will not fear the future, for I have God on my side. I am a daughter of God, and I am to stare unblinkingly into the bright future. And I will choose to laugh.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
