Senior year: the end of one of the biggest chapters in your life. It's exciting, long-awaited and sad all in one. Whether they were the best four years of your life or the worst, it's still sentimental to think about every "last" that you will have.

There are lasts that we all share and lasts that are special to each of us. Here are 13 lasts you experience during your senior year of high school.

1. The Last First Day

Now, most people will go to college, and then you'll have your first day of that. But, besides that, your first day of your senior year is your last first day. It's the last first day of required schooling. That means that you've finally made it. You're the top dog, and you just have to make it through this year--then, you're free.

2. Last Pep Rally

If you're a cheerleader, an athlete, a nerd or just a normal student, your last pep rally will have some sort of reaction. If you hate them, you'll feel relieved to finally be done. If you love them, you'll be sad to never sit in those bleachers again cheering on your teachers as they play dodge-ball.

3. Your Last Set Of Freshmen

My freshman year I became friends with so many seniors. Sophomore year, junior year, it wasn't as important but freshman year...they were my sisters, and I looked up to them to lead the school. Seniors, bond with the new freshies. Make friendships, and take them under your wings. These are the last freshmen who are going to be under you while you're at the school--take care of them.

4. Last Football Game

This is your last time to stand in the student section, to cheer on your team in the silly themes and to experience the hype of game day during school. Soak it in. Enjoy it. You'll miss it when it's gone.

5. Last School Dance

Homecoming, prom, winter formals, etc. It's the last one you're going to as a student of the school! That's sad...no matter how lame or overpriced the dances were.

6. Last Cafeteria Meal

Sit with your friends, or sit with new people. Just don't tell anyone that they can't sit with you, because hey, it's your last year. Spread your wings and expand your mind...even at lunch.

7. Last Breakfast With Mom

This is the last breakfast before you move out where you actually still live there and aren't just back home visiting. This is the last time she'll make you her normal pancakes, and they're not just a special thing because you came back home. Break out the whipped cream, and enjoy!

8. Last Time Out On The Court

This is the last time you'll be on the court with your team. If it's volleyball, basketball or any other sport, you'll have your last game and you'll have the final goodbye to your teammates. There will probably be tears. You won't get those moments back. Cherish every time you get to play.

9. Last Puppy Snuggles

There will be a time when you have to say goodbye to your dog, and you'll snuggle him for one last time. The few weeks counting down to you leaving you'll probably force him to sleep in your room. He'll miss you, though, I promise.

10. Last Time Being Close To Your Family

It doesn't matter if you're going to college in state or out of state. You still won't be able to call up your cousins to go to Walmart at two in the morning. You won't be able to run errands with your mom. You won't be able to spend time with your siblings. You have to wait until breaks, which means a lot of time spent missing those you love.

11. Last Time Down The School Halls

It won't hit you until the last few weeks, but once it does, it's going to hit you hard that you won't walk down those halls again like this. You'll miss them, no matter how much you hated them while you were in school.

12. Your Last Homecooked Meal.

Enjoy those homecooked meals! You will definitely miss them as you sit in your dorm eating Ramen every single night and microwavable Easy Mac. You'll realize there is truly nothing better than your mom's cooking. And while you're away, you may end up looking like Cher in the gif above...so, yeah. Just appreciate your last homecooked meal. It's pretty special.

13. Your Last Last Day.

This is going to be an exciting day. You're finally free! You've made it through all 12 years, and now you're free to the real world. But that also means that this is the last time you get to spend every day with your friends and be in the same routine as normal. It's sad. It's the last time you get to leave and you won't be able to say, "See you next year!"

Senior year will go by fast, and you won't get it back. Be kind to people, go to the events you wouldn't normally go to. Put down your phone, and spend quality time with people, but pick up your phone to take lots of pictures.

Make the most of your last year of high school. Sometimes, we're too quick to count down the days that we forget to make them count.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
