On July 10th, 2018, Forbes Magazine released their new edition with Kylie Jenner gracing the front cover. 20-year-old, Kylie Jenner, is on the road to becoming the fastest person to a billion, male or female. With a current net worth of $900 million dollars, she is set to reach a net worth of one billion dollars at the age of 21, something Mark Zuckerberg accomplished at the age of 23.

Although she is the youngest in her family, she is definitely the richest. For perspective purposes, Kylie is #27 on Forbes' "America's Self Made Women 2018" list, Kim Kardashian is at #54 and Beyonce at #55. Jenner has been living life at a fast pace. Two years ago, she launched her very own cosmetics line, notorious for the lip kits, called "Kylie Cosmetics," runs the company with virtually no employees or capital, expands her product lines actively and continuously creates, develops and advertises her brand. Let's not forget her new status as #mom. Stormi, your mother is thriving.

Now, here is where the debate comes in. People are questioning whether she is worthy of the title and recognition. My opinion? Yes. Other people may say, "Nah, she's just lucky."

Yes, Kylie Jenner has been under the spotlight since pretty much birth. Her name is recognizable anywhere and everywhere. She was born into a significant amount of money. And finally, yes, her entire family is famous, including her dogs. Where am I getting at?

A "self-made" person is one who achieves wealth or status by their own effort or having succeeded by one's own aid.

Let's say Kylie just relied on the money she made for appearing on her family's reality TV show. That's not really her money, it's the family's, so, not really "self-made." Kylie could have decided to just live off her sisters, her mother. Also a no. She decided to get to work. She's created a company that's fully owned and run by her. She is apart of all the development, planning and strategic processes. She provides the finances. Kylie took and continues to take advantage of the platform she has and uses social media to it's greatest potential.

Social media is literally her only type of advertisement. Yes, her name is the brand. People buy her products because her name is plastered all over it, but there is a reason they like the name. There is a reason they buy her products. It's because of the way she engages with her audience. She uses Instagram and Snapchat so often, one almost feels like she's their close, personal friend.

Kylie has created a story with her name. She sells the luxury, high-class experience to her followers by engaging them through social media. It's brilliant. Why? Because she does it right. By posting SnapChats of herself at the cosmetics factory, filming the make-up development process, filming herself using the cosmetics and films her friends testing out the products, her fans are able to feel more and more involved in every step of the way. She builds a personal relationship with her fan base and builds a level of anticipation that essentially leads to the skyrocket sales. Her posts on social media are so organic, it's like another one of your friends just posting normally.

Those who believe she's not worthy of the "youngest self-made billionaire" status are probably held back by the fact that her family is so recognizable yet controversial. Some believe that she's had such a major jump start to the whole process, it shouldn't be fair to count her in the pool of America's Self-Made Women. I understand where the position is coming from. Kylie was fortunate enough to be born into a family that's had all these great opportunities, a family that's done well financially.

I think she is worthy of the recognition because she went one step further than what most kids of rich families do. Instead of relying on family money, she went out and created her own company, from scratch. She essentially created a new definition of her name.

There are a billion facts that can be brought up to knock Kylie Jenner's recognition down, but it doesn't take away from the fact that this brand is hers and she's created a fan base that makes up for all her sales. Her net worth is so much higher than all her sister's because she has created an image for herself aside from the family's own, so kudos to her. She knows her market, knows how to interact with her market, and knows how to engage an audience.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
