Every group has the friend that takes care of the rest. If these sound familiar, you’re that friend.

1. You constantly feed your friends regardless of their hunger levels.

Oh, you’re not hungry? I don’t care; I made an entire pot of Kraft mac and cheese just for you. You feel the internal need to stuff your friends full with snacks and drinks.

2. You’re always reminding them about things they forget.

Do you have your keys? Don’t forget you have an appointment tomorrow! You’re not leaving without your jacket, its freezing!Whatever they’re forgetting, you’re the one to be on their case about it. Who needs a planner when you have a “mom” friend?

3. Their accomplishments feel like your accomplishments.

You feel nothing but pride every time they achieve and maybe even feel personally responsible for helping them get there. A win for them is a win for you.

4. You’re the tour guide and concierge everywhere you go.

In unknown territory, you’re usually the leader of the pack. You always have carefully researched where the hotspots are and have practically memorized the Google map of the area. Every adventure is planned down to the minute when you’re around.

5. You have a “Mary Poppins” purse.

Chapstick? Hair tie? Snack? Got it. Whatever your friends need, its bound to be somewhere in your bag. You could survive a significant amount of time during an apocalypse solely off the contents of your bag.

6. You’re best friends with their actual moms.

Well, it makes sense. Why wouldn’t their mothers adore the person making their lives easier? When your friends ask their parents for permission, name-dropping you results in an automatic “yes.”

7. You’re there for them when they’ve had one too many drinks.

Whether its holding their hair back or confiscating their phone, your friends can always depend on you to keep them out of trouble when they’ve had a bit too much to drink. And you’re always there with water and Advil the morning after.

8. You’re always the first to go to bed.

A mom’s got a tough job and they deserve their beauty sleep. Despite your friends calling you a party pooper, you’re usually the first to hit the hay no matter the day of the week.

9. You worry about them endlessly.

You always force them to text you the second they get home so you know they’re safe and freak out if they don’t text you on time. No matter what, everyone’s wellbeing is always on your mind. And you’re usually the first one to object to risky endeavors.

10. But these are the reasons they love you.

Let’s be honest, your friend group would be a mess without your maternal instincts. They love that that they can always count on you for some advice or a warm meal. After all, a second mother never hurt anybody.

If these signs sound like you, congratulations, you’re the “mom” friend. Without you, your friends would most likely be starving and lost.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
