How You Know You're From Babylon
Malene Stoesser-Randone

I grew up in a small town in Suffolk County known as Babylon. Its where I grew up, went to school (i actually went to West Babylon) and made some amazing friends that I have today. There are a few things that will always make me think of my hometown and remember it by.

1. You spent most of high school wandering through Babylon village.

It was a place that most of us hung out. You could always find the big crowd near Mulberry Street (who doesn't love pizza??). It was either a great thing or the worst thing ever to see everyone from high school.

2. Glens is the breakfast place.

Glens has been around for years. My dad always took me there for breakfast when I was little and its still one of my favorite places for breakfast. But its a place that everyone knows about.

3. Gilgo and Overlook beaches.

So even though there was a serial killer everyone knows Gilgo was the hangout beach to be at in the summer, but Overlook has recently been my go to spot to soak up the summer sun.

4. Lifeguard night at the Post Office.

You cannot beat having great friends around and fishbowls to enjoy the evening. It doesn't get much better.

5. The all time best coffee is from Babylon Bean.

You can get anything from ace bowls to fun flavored lattes. But the coffee is an all time favorite.

6. Lastly going to the Babylon Docks when you need to think.

It is a place that I love to go and see the sunrise, or when I need to think. It is the place everyone knows about and knows to go to if you need time to yourself. It is also a great place to go crabbing during the summer.

Babylon will always be my hometown, its beautiful and a great place to have grown up.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
