Every young girl dreams of one day finding her Knight in Shining Armor. The guy who will come sweep her off her feet, carry her into the sunset and live happily ever after. This girl was me, 10-years-old and dreaming of my happily ever after, until one day I found him and we actually started our journey of togetherness.
Thank you, my knight in shining armor. Thank you for saving this damsel in distress some three years ago. Thank you for rescuing me from a hell-bound downward spiral due to the boy before you. Thank you for saving me from his monstrous psychological grip that he held so strongly over me. Thank you for investing in me and climbing every crazy, silly, dramatic and exhausting mountain to be able to still call me yours. Thanking you for being there for me and catching me every time I fall, for teaching me that life isn't always in my hands, and for being just as much of a gentleman to me as you were when we first met. Thank you for waiting for me and realizing that I was the one way before I realized that you were.
Thank you for having faith in our story book ending and for keeping that faith even when things got rough and for helping me through all of my health problems. Thank you for putting up with my family even when you don't always get along, and thank you for being patient with me when I get as crazy as my family does. I know it couldn't have been easy, but I'm glad you thought I was worth the effort.
Thank you for knowing when to let this crazy girl run loose, and thank you for putting me in my place when I need it, because someone who is crazy enough to constantly love someone as messed up as I am deserves a trophy. I'm not sure how well I would've turned out had I continued on the path I was on three years ago, but after you came in to save me, I wouldn't want it any other way. I knew life would never be the same.
Most importantly, thank you my knight in shining armor, for being you. For making sure you consistently find a way to make me smile or laugh. For not judging me because I didn't wear make-up today and for kissing me when I have morning breath. For saying my burnt food still tastes delicious. For making sure there isn't a day that goes by where we do not have the things we need. For giving us a home. For trashing that home and leaving the toilet seat up, but always helping clean it up when I need it. Thank you for being you, and thank you for choosing me to be the one to fall in love with you.
