Mr. Kim, it's time to stop. The ICBM you launched on August 28th across Japanese territory crossed the line in more than one way. It is a clear act of defiance on your behalf against the various economic sanctions imposed upon you to discourage missile testing. What goal are you pursuing? Where is the end to your recklessness? Your family has shot a missile over Japan twice before, once in 1998 and another time in 2009. Back then, you claimed they were satellites. You cannot do the same now.
You are responsible for making the Japanese people wake up to alerts of a missile incoming and orders to search for shelter underground. For a moment that lasted too long, you made them think August 28th was their last day on earth. You are responsible for further tempting Donald Trump to commit atrocities I believe he has been seriously considering for some time now.
Worst of all, you are re-igniting the dangerous Japanese nationalism that drove unprecedented acts of war such as kamikaze airplane attacks and prisoner suicides as an escape to captivity. The American nuclear attacks upon Hiroshima and Nagasaki showed the country that such a destructive mindset was pointless and led to nothing more than tragedy in the long run. The renewed threat you, Mr. Kim, impose on the Japanese risks bringing back a state of mind that could destabilize the region for years to come. So Mr. Kim, desist from your activities for the safety of your country and countless others. Aggression cannot be stopped with aggression, only with dialogue, level-headedness and co-operation.
