To All Of The Kids Growing Up Too Fast

Children that grow up in this generation are learning things that older kids learned later in life, and are growing up faster at a younger age.

Us adults, get exactly where you are coming from. You are young and the only thing you want right now is "to grow up." You want to know who your friends will be, what you will look like, and what you will become. When you are a kid, you take advantage of the time you get and worry about your future. Parents say, "don't worry about growing up its no fun, you just pay bills so have fun for now and live your life." Most of us at that age do not understand that concept and do not understand you have to work really hard to pay your bills.

We Did Not Have Cell Phones.

Our generation was so much better than the generation today, and I am forever grateful growing up when I did. We grew up with our friends, finding things to do outside. We did not text them, our parents got a hold of each other so that we could play. Some of us had PlayStations or Nintendo DS, but we had a limit of the time we even got to spend on them. You can barely walk around a school after class is dismissed and see a child that is NOT on their phones.

We Respected Everyone.

We grew up respecting everyone around us. There were some children that would get in trouble on occasions, but that wasn't all of the time. If we did not respect our peers or teachers, we would go home and get in a lot of trouble for that. Kids today, barely even respect their own parents. I hear kids speak disrespectfully to their parents and the parents blame it on the generation and the world that has come today, but I blame it on the fact that some parents do not discipline their children like they used to.

It Goes By Too Fast.

Children think that the time they get doesn't go by fast enough, but I beg to differ. The times that I got the opportunity to be in school and be surrounded by friends went by too fast. We didn't have to pay for bills, or even pay for our own textbooks. The time goes by fast when you make memories of a lifetime. Children want it to go by faster, but don't realize in the future they are going to miss everything that they have been taking advantage of. Its different when you take advantage of money, because you can always work and get more. Its different if you take advantage of time, because thats something you can't get back.

Media was different.

I see kids today listening to rap and repeating the words. When I was growing up, I wasn't allowed to listen to that music and I respected my parents enough not to listen to it. But today, kids will listen to the worst music and go to school and repeat everything they heard. They do not respect girls in the ways they should because of lyrics in the songs. TV shows and movies are the same way. Because of listening to this music and watching these shows, kids get a different idea of the way they should act and treat people.

You Won't Understand Hard Times

Its mentally hard for a child to understand the truth of what is going on in a hard time. Explaining the death of a close friend or family member is very hard, and hard for them to process through in their mind. A person's brain isn't fully developed until they are twenty-five years of age so they do not always fully understand things. If they have a dog that gets hit by a vehicle, they might keep thinking that they will come back, just because they don't understand fully how death works.

Being a kid is a lot of fun, and those times you will always remember. No responsibilities besides school, except what your parents expect out of you. You have time to spend with friends and family, and do not have to pay for anything since you aren't old enough to even work! Kids should enjoy the time they have, because growing up is fun but comes along with a lot of hard times and responsibilities, things you wouldn't understand when you are young.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
