Our generation's biggest goal is to be successful in their life. For many this means a lot of money and power, but for others it may be to have a family and be able to provide for them. The only problem with everyone having these goals is that most people refuse to put in the effort it takes to achieve these goals.
Here are some tips that I have picked up from my years in college.
You get what you put in:
If you are trying to achieve your goal, you have to wake up, put on your work clothes and get to it. If you don't put in the work, then you are just wasting your time and talents. People are not just blessed with talents and opportunities to be successful, however, there are those that have had to fight and claw their way to the top. So if you want to dream big you need to be prepared to work harder than everyone around you, and work longer than anyone else -- because it doesn't happen over night.
Find the right path and stick to it:
You can work as hard as you want but if you are going the wrong way, then you will never get to your goal. Too many times I have seen people blessed with great talents start out on the right path, but for one reason or another they fall off the path and never achieve what they want. If you get to the point where it's hard to keep going or you are at a cross roads in your life, remember the end game and how far you have come from where you started. To keep on keeping on is one of the hardest things everyone faces because we all doubt ourselves and we all wonder if it's worth it -- well it is, you just have to stick to it.
Enjoy every minute of chasing your dreams:
If you are trying to make a million dollars, but you wake up every morning and hate what you are doing, then you will never be successful. You need to enjoy your life. Life is too short to be more concerned about making a lot of money than actually having a good life and waking up every morning excited to start the day. If you don't then you will never be truly happy -- yes, you may have money, but you will be no better off than when you started you're going after your goal.
Nothing is worse than someone that says they want something but they always come up with a reason they can work towards their goal. I have a poster in my room that describes this perfectly, it states: "The only thing standing between you and your goal is the bullshit story you keep telling yourself as to why you can't achieve it" (Jordan Belfort). Nothing in life comes easy but if you are going to go after something, making excuses time and time again is a waste of time and effort.
Go after your dreams. You are the master of your destiny and that's all that matters If you have faith in yourself and are willing to put in unrelenting work; with hard work and determination anything you want is possible.
