While playing Kim Kardashian: Hollywood (don't judge me), I got a notification for a new game featuring the Jenner sisters Kendall and Kylie. The game simply called "Kendall and Kylie" feature you as the main character who meets the sisters by chance and befriends them. From there, you make connections which help you achieve internet fame.
The game includes features like meeting new people to make personal and professional contacts. You can date, work a day job, and buy new clothing and accessories which all can give you likes and followers on social media. Even though the social media outlet used in the game looks like it's made to replicate Instagram.
While comparisons to Kim's game can certainly be made, there are some key differences including one of the most obvious: Kardashian's game is played only in landscape mode while Kendall and Kylie's is only in portrait. Other noticeable differences include the background music, graphics, and characters. However, both games are produced by Glu Mobile and most of the basic gameplay are still the same.
There's even a blonde enemy for your character to immediately dislike. The antagonist in this game is named Aubrey Maddison who begins a warpath with your character as soon as she thinks you know the Jenner sisters. Such a Willow Pape move.
Since the game is so new I expected there to be a few glitches at least, but I only ran into one and after a few resets it was easy enough to get passed. And nothing so far is a deterrent from the game itself. From what I can see, the only real issue people may have with it may just stem from the two games being similar, but easy enough for me to look at both games as two separate ones as opposed to one game and a spin-off. The following images show both games in Calabasas, CA.
Kim K: Hollywood
Kendall & Kylie:
One of the more upsetting things featured in the game is the possible appropriation of the bindi. For 199 K gems (akin to the K-Star of Kim K: Hollywood) you can buy gems to place on your character's forehead. Kendall Jenner has been called out before along with a number of other celebrities who have worn the traditional jewelry as a fashion statement and it looks like a slap in the face of the people they appropriated to have it featured in the game.
Unlike the K&K game, you aren't working at the very beginning. You have the day job yes. However, if I recall correctly, at the beginning of Kim K you meet Kim and then you end up going to a photoshoot with her where a photographer likes you and that's the start of your modeling career. In Kendall and Kylie, as of right now, the sisters just happen to notice you exist in the same place they do and you just so happen to know people who know people. The Jenner sisters don't give you automatic connections like Kim does.
I'm on level eight and I've been doing some podcasts and makeup reviews. I have somewhat of a makeshift manager in the game and he's been using his connections to get me these kinds of jobs, but I'm not making too much money just yet. Considering that you're an internet celeb here, not a model with a possible career, Internet fame doesn't rake in the money but that's the incentive. You're trying to make it all the way to the top. Or, at the very least trying to be more famous than that Aubrey Maddison.
"Kendall and Kylie" is available on both the Play Store and the App Store.
