I was really trying to think of an article to write this week, but the ol' Trumpkin did me a solid by dropping a perfect rant post idea straight into my lap.
ICYMI, last week the House of Representatives voted for the American Health Care Act, a bill that truly portrays how utterly stupid our government is. The bill potentially excludes people with "pre-existing conditions", which includes diabetes, pregnancy, and AIDS.
Not surprisingly, a component of the bill involves blocks federal funds from going to Planned Parenthood. In case you're unfamiliar, Planned Parenthood is an amazing organization that provides sexual and reproductive health care and information to men, women, and children around the country. It provides breast exams, STD testing, and provides information and options to expecting parents.
Planned Parenthood is tremendously important, so why are conservatives so desperate to shut it down? One of the services that Planned Parenthood offers is safe abortions, which I might add IS NOT DONE WITH FEDERAL FUNDING. Let me state this again (in bold), federal funding IS NOT used for abortions. Your tax dollars aren't being used for it, so shut up.
This is all part of the larger issue that men think that they have a right to make ANY decision about a woman's body. To be frank, I don't give a shit what a man thinks about abortion, birth control, or anything that has to do with my reproductive organs. It's not your place and it's not your body, so why don't you keep your damn opinions to yourself?
If you are a man, you have no right to make ANY decisions about my vagina and what goes on with it. I don't care what you do with your reproductive organs, you can keep your mouth shut about mine.
However, since a majority of the government is made up of those without a uterus, I actually have to give a damn what men think of me, because they're the ones making the decisions about my body.
So, to sum it up: keep your laws, your religion, and your political views out of my vagina. You may have come out of one, but if you don't have one, you don't get to have an opinion about it.
And if you are as horrified by this bill as I am, do something about it. Call your government officials, get informed, and try to make a difference.
