Wow, Katy Perry for the win. That was one of the greatest performances I think we've all seen in quite a while. In case you can't quite remember (which would be a shame) or you weren't able to watch it, here are some of the highlights.
Katy Perry coming out on the stage looking badass while riding a giant robotic tiger, singing her hit song "Roar," just about took my friends' and my breath away.
Like seriously, who else could pull that off, if not KP herself!? No one. I don't even know what to do with myself at this point. Smile? Cry of happiness? Jump for joy? Keep watching? Yes, I should keep watching.
Then "Dark Horse" comes on and the stage becomes some sort of epic checkerboard pattern that just blows your mind and you can't even fathom what's happening.
Now, "I Kissed A Girl." Lenny Kravitz opens it up with a nice bit of guitar before Perry comes in and steals the show once again with her outstanding vocals and amazingness.
Next, "Teenage Dream" erupts through the stadium taking over the crowd and KP owns it.
Then "California Gurls" comes on and the stage is transformed into a beach like scene with human palm trees, waves, beach balls, sharks and maybe even more. All I know is that I am in love with KP. The song ends. The stadium goes black.
Missy Elliot has arrived.
She opens up with "Get Ur Freak On" with Perry on her side. Her crew kills their amazing dance routine and the song crosses over into Missy's "Work It." Another classic. The dance routine steps it up a notch and continues to show everyone what they've got.
Then the ultimate happens. "Lose Control" rings out through the stadium and I think my heart skips a beat. Missy, you have won my heart. Thank you for the opportunity to be reminded of the good ol' days and thank you for just being you.
The song transitions and it's KP once again. Thank goodness, I was starting to miss her. It's "Firework." What more could I ask for than for Perry to end her performance with one of her most inspirational songs?! She is on a small itty-bitty platform under a shooting star structure that's lit up. That's cool. Wait. No. This simply cannot be. She's....flying?!?!? NO WAY.
My heart has stopped. It's official. I am in shock. She's floating over the field. Fireworks are erupting around the stadium, the crowd is probably in tears. I know I am. Chills are running up and down my whole body. Just wow.
What an amazing performance by Perry, Kravitz, and Missy. But, Katy Perry, you have done it, you win.
