Kat Von D and Jeffree Star have been BFFs for 10 years. They've been very close friends and spent a lot of time together until the last couple years. They were both very invested in their friendship and they have bonded while Kat did many of Jeffree's tattoos.
Monday, Kat Von D publicly "disassociated" herself from Jeffree Star and his cosmetic brand on Instagram. She posted a photo of Jeffree with a red symbol for "NO" on his face and explained in the caption that because of Jeffree's behavior and the things Jeffree promotes, she didn't want to be associated with him any longer. She also apologized to anyone who has been affected by Jeffree's negativity. Kat also announced that she would be pulling a shade named after Jeffree from her cosmetic line.
After years of making excuses for, and rationalizing Jeffree's inappropriate behavior (including, promoting drug use, racism, and bullying) I can no longer hold my tongue after recent events. I know that over the years, many of you were introduced to Jeffree through me, and regardless if you chose to continue to follow him or not, I just would like to disassociate myself from him and his brand from this point on. I plan on posting a video explanation as to why I felt compelled to make such a statement. But for the time being, I simply want to apologize to anybody and everybody who has ever had to deal with any of his negativity. And yes, with a heavy heart, I will be pulling the shade "Jeffree" from my collection. Sending extra love to everyone out there. ❤️

Jeffree than took to twitter saying that he was yawning at the post. He tweeted that Kat had never been supportive of him or his cosmetic line and called the situation "sad and gross".
This whole situation is sad and gross. I don't need to clap back or make a video about someone's post. It's getting trite.

Kat and I texted a few days ago after 6 MONTHS of silence. She never supported me or my brand and got distant when I launched mine.

Then, Kat, as promised, posted a video on her youtube channel on Tuesday explaining her thoughts on the situation with the title, "Jeffree Star: It's so much easier to do the right thing"
She begins by explaining that she doesn't want to be associated to Jeffree because of how he treats people, in the business world and otherwise. Kat responds to Jeffree's tweet claiming that she had never supported him or his makeup line. She adversely claims that she gave Jeffree the idea to start his own makeup line and she gave Jeffree the factory contact that allowed his liquid lipsticks to be created. Essentially, Kat claims that if it wasn't for her, Jeffree wouldn't have gotten this far and that she had been a huge supporter.
Then around 6:40 of Kat's video, she begins explaining the major issue she has with Jeffree, the straw that broke the camel's back. Long story short, she says that she hooked Jeffree up with her friend, BJ Betts, to do his logo and lettering on the packaging of his liquid lipsticks. Kat shows the artwork that BJ drew up for Jeffree.
Its almost identical to the artwork we see currently on Jeffree's packaging. Kat reads from a text from BJ where he says that he told Jeffree that they could do a mirrored letter J instead of the S if he liked that better. That is the logo that we currently see on Jeffree's cosmetic packaging, BJ's mirrored letter idea.
According to Kat, Jeffree ran with BJ's design and ideas. Kat says that she found out this past Saturday that Jeffree had blocked BJ's number after BJ asked to be paid. When Kat heard that Jeffree went forward with BJ's designs, she texted Jeffree to ask him to explain why BJ hadn't been paid. Jeffree didn't give her a straight answer and then he blocked Kat's number.
She also later says in the video that she "doesn't want to be in same sentence" as someone who constantly promoting the luxurious, expensive things because she tries to send an opposite message than Jeffree's. Many people had criticized Kat for not tagging Jeffree in her instagram post about him and she responds that she would have but Jeffree had blocked her on Instagram, Twitter, etc. after she texted him about the situation so she wasn't able to.
Upon watching the video, Jeffree tweeted that he would post a video explanation of his side of this story. He said that "the truth isn't in her video". Jeffree posted his video discussing Kat Von D on Wednesday with the title replying to Kat's; "DEAR KAT VON D: IT'S EASIER TO TELL THE TRUTH."
Jeffree begins his video saying that someone people had gotten access to his family member's phone numbers and that they were receiving death threats in response to Kat's video. Jeffree says that Kat knew the response that Jeffree would get. He calls her viscous for calling him out and prompting people to come after him and his loved ones. Jeffree makes a huge issue about the text conversation that he had with Kat and he spends a lot of time discussing their friendship up to this point and distributing what he texted in response to Kat's question. Jeffree also explains that he said Kat didn't support him or his line because Kat was apparently going to be loaning him the money to back his cosmetic line but she never ended up giving Jeffree the investment.
Jeffree says he doesn't understand why it was Kat's place to say anything about the situation between him and BJ Betts. He claims that BJ started the logo idea for Jeffree but Jeffree couldn't afford BJ's prices so he stepped away and used a different graphic artist to do his cosmetic line packaging. Jeffree said that Kat shouldn't have spoken up about it because Jeffree claims his lawyer and manager were already in contact with BJ Bett's lawyer and manager discussing BJ getting paid "for inspiring something". Jeffree said that BJ has been fully paid and says that they might work together on some art for a future makeup palette coming out next year.
BJ tweeted Wednesday on the issue.:
The matter between myself and Jeffree Star has been amicably resolved and I will have no further comments on the matter.

Jeffree towards the end of his video talks about how egotistical he thinks Kat is for saying "that she basically created me". In actuality, Kat's claim was that he wouldn't have gotten as far and been as successful in his cosmetic line if it wasn't for him using her connections.
Jeffree discusses many smaller issues toward the end of the video. Jeffree says its important to note that he is an independent brand but Kat Von D signed a company that makes her exclusive to Sephora only. He says that Kat said to somebody that he was trying to steal an idea from her, because they use the same factory, but that it isn't true. Jeffree also brings up that Kat had a past of drug use, but she is sober now and has been for quite some time, and that she smokes cigarettes regularly and he discusses his medical marijuana usage. He says that she is legally bound by Sephora from using cosmetic products that aren't sold in Sephora and because of this, she's only worn Jeffree's liquid lipstick once. Jeffree said that Kat has done media training and she knew how to manipulate and talk to the camera. Jeffree says what breaks his heart the most is the "malicious intent".
