First of all, I need thank you. Thank you for giving me a reason to be the best person I can be. Thank you for being the most loving, caring, and annoying person I know. As I’m approaching my final time in college, and being to hell and back, I think it’s time to give you a few, good tips as you enter the greatest years of your life, being a teenager. Oh, and before I forget, you are welcome. You are welcome for being the oldest and making every possible mistake there is so hopefully you can learn from me (I took one for the team with mom and dad…no big deal). So here we go!
Boys. Boys are going to walk in and out of your life. Some will break your heart and some will have their hearts broken by you. You don’t need to find “the one,” “your other half,” “your bae.” Build a wall but don’t be afraid for the right boy to knock it down. Always remember that you are beautiful and the only thing you should waste your tears on is when you finish the end of the pint of ice cream during a movie night with the girls. Other than that, no boy is worth your time if they can’t make any time for you. PS, don’t be afraid to bring boys home to the fam… it’s really not that bad I promise
College. Breathe little sis. You don’t need to have your life figured out. Look at me, half way done with college and I’m still clueless! You’ll figure yourself out, who you are, what you want to do. Follow your dreams and never let anyone discourage you from achieving everything you want in life.
Family. Boys will hurt you, you will recover. Friends will leave, you will be okay. Promises will be broken; you will get over it. But family, family is forever. When you are weak, we will be strong. When you are sad, we will be there. When you need a hug, we will all be there (with the biggest arms wide open)
Capture the moment. The littlest of moments are the greatest of memories. Take pictures. Upload 300 pictures to Facebook a day, who cares! Looking back now there are way too many times I wish I had more of a memory of and there are way too people who I love that I made the greatest memories with. Capture anything and everything.
Life. Think of life in general little one. Cherish every moment you have and never waste a tear on something that wont matter 10 years from now. Have fun, be who you are, and live each second to its absolute fullest. When we grow old together, we are going to wish we did things differently so lets make the wishes come alive, hand in hand.
Lastly, I never told you how much I love you, well not enough as I should. You will never truly know how much you mean to me because not enough words in the world could ever explain how much your existence impacts my life. For such a little girl, you are the biggest inspiration for me. To go out there, to be a great role model for you, and to help you learn from all of my mistakes. I loved you the second Mom and Dad put me in my “I’m a Big Sis” t-shirt and I will forever love you (even after you continue to steal all of my clothes).
Sincerely,
Your Big Sister xoxo
