Tomorrow is Christmas Day.
Some of you probably started celebrating on November 1st — cranking up the Christmas music, donning yourself in fuzzy socks with trees on them, snacking on candy canes, and making your pets dress up in ridiculous reindeer outfits.
You have probably been stressing about buying the perfect gifts for your loved ones, wrapping your presents up pristinely, and placing them perfectly under the tree.
Maybe you have been invited to holiday parties with friends or through work. You sat around drinking egg nog, singing along to ‘Rudolph,’ and laughing through the Christmas cheer.
Perhaps this year has not been the easiest for you.
Maybe you lost your job and are worrying about affording presents.
Maybe your loved one is in the hospital, so your Christmas will be spent eating small cups of chocolate ice cream while watching ‘The Yule Log’ on the television.
Maybe for some reason you cannot make it home for Christmas and it seems as if you are all alone while everyone else is spending quality time with those whom they love the most.
Whether or not this time of year brings about feelings or happiness or feelings of sorrow to you, there is one thing to celebrate on Christmas day, and it is not the presents under the tree.
It is Jesus Christ.
On Christmas Day, God blessed us with his Holy Son.
He gifted us the most wonderful gift possible, our Savior.
God gave us his Holy Son knowing that one day He will die on the cross to forgive us sinners for all that we have done wrong and all that we shall do wrong.
Because of this astounding gift, all of us are forgiven.
We are given a new slate full of new opportunities.
We are given chances for joy and peace.
We are given hope.
Christmas is not about presents wrapped in snowman paper or stockings full of socks and candies.
Christmas is about Jesus.
Jesus is the reason for the the season!
Hallelujah!
