Being college students, our days are filled with constant movement, activities and responsibilities, and very little time for us to focus on our own happiness and ourselves. When do we have time to take a deep breath and check in with ourselves? All our friends and family are fine, but how are we doing?
When we do make some time for ourselves, you really notice the little things that you sometimes tend to overlook. Even though they are little things, these small things can make a huge difference in your day and change a negative perspective.
A huge problem with our generation is that everybody is always focused on the non-tangible, materialistic objects. Everybody tends to believe that they need huge things to make him or her happy. We tend to focus on how others perceive us and use that to determine our own happiness. Do you get enough likes on Instagram? Do your tweets get favorited? Is your phone always blown up with texts? Although these things aren’t materialists they shouldn’t define happiness. As a generation we often disregard that the fact that non-materialistic objects can bring happiness.
It’s the little things in life. Whether it is a smile from a stranger on your way to class, hearing the birds chirp on a sunny day, or singing your new favorite song. It could be going to the gym at eight in the morning to get rid of all the stress that you have been keeping bottled up. You might not realize it, but you need to be your first priority in life.
It's the little things that help you live a better life. For example, waking up earlier to pick the perfect outfit. It could be as little as cleaning out your social media and its entire negative vibes. It could be going for a walk and just taking in your surroundings.
Being so busy, we tend to not think about all the little things, Next time you have a littl e bit of extra time, take a step back and think about all the little things that impact your life and make it a little bit more special.
