It's Not Time To Repeal The Second Amendment

Let's get one thing straight - the second amendment and it's original meaning. "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

Let me repeat the most important and relevant part of the statement: "THE RIGHT OF THE PEOPLE TO KEEP AND BEAR ARMS, SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED."

You can call me over dramatic but if you take away guns or make laws to regulate guns to where basically no one can have them anymore is the first step to a socialist society. Personally I like freedom, and I love America and I love bearing my arms. The founding fathers original intent of America when she was created was to allow people to live a free life, to not be under tyranny. The millennials are trying to turn American into a socialist, gun hating, free-loading; always have to be given gratification country. And I am sick and tired of it.

Remember when America had the prohibition and no one could drink alcohol? Before this period of banning alcohol the crime rate was 5.6 per 100,000 and it nearly doubled to 10 once the prohibition was enacted. Overall Violent crimes such as: murders, batteries, and assaults increased by 13 percent. If Americans acted like this because of liquor, imagine what it would be like once you banned guns...

The reason I am writing this piece is a response to the people blaming the National Rifle Association (NRA) and wanting to ban guns after the Orlando terror attack that happened Sunday. The terrorist used a AR-15 and a hand-gun aka a glock. People are focusing on hating the NRA and asking people to not hate on a religion or stereotype Muslims.

Gun Education 101: an AR-15 IS NOT AN ASSAULT RIFLE, and that's not what it stands for either.

AR stands for Armalite rifle. There is no such thing as an assault rifle either - assault is a verb not an object.

FACT: You can purchase a firearm so long as it goes through a FFL (Federal Firearms Licensee). You must be legally able to carry in your state. For rifles, the sale must comply with the law of the buyer's state. An FFL has to be involved. Many media outlets have said the AR-15 can shoot 700 rpm.

FACT: it can only shoot 45 rpm with lower accuracy, around 15 max for sustained fire.

The line of "if you need defense call 9-1-1, don't own a gun - you don't need it in your house or on you." The line baffles me, because if we ban guns how are the police going to protect us - never mind the fact that policemen have no obligation of saving your life; just an obligation of upholding the law. Owning a gun is your second line of defense, behind your first line of defense: yourself. Your hands, a knife, and a gun are all tools of defense.

The line of "we need more regulations on guns because anyone and everyone can go buy and own a gun." The line makes me laugh because not everyone can own a gun. There are certain guidelines into owning a gun that ignorant people don't to make aware to themselves.

So yes please continue to try to infringe on my constitutional right to bear arms, please continue on hating an association of people who all are law-abiding gun owning citizens. The NRA did not enable the shooting in Orlando and the NRA are not at fault of any of the mass-shootings or murder in general. As I said assault is an action or verb not an object. An act of hate is what drove the atrocity terrorist attack, not an object.

It is a tragedy what happened in Orlando, and America shall mourn the lives that were lost. This won't be the first or last act of terror in the world or against America as long as our borders are open, and as long as we worry about offending people instead of taking action and calling it what it is - radical Islamic movements against us. Movements against Christians, women, and the LGBT community. When will the line be drawn? When will this be over?

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
