It Is Time For Change

The 2016 election has forced people to open their eyes and see how messed up things have gotten.

As a 23-year-old this is my second time being able to vote in the Presidential Election and I will say it is something I am feel very honored being able to do, because women were only granted the ability to vote a little under a 100 years ago, and I know people died for my right to vote. I believe voting is an important American duty. I will say even though many people believe this election is a joke (which it is), but I believe it is the most important one of our time.

But, here I am faced with the choice between my morals and what I feel is best for this country. This election is a tough one for me because I believe that we have four nominees that are not qualified for the job. How did we get here? Every debate I am left more concerned for this country, because our options are less than appealing. I literally tell myself all the time that I must vote for the lesser of two evils, but how do I even know which one is the lesser of two evils?

I will tell you why I believe this election is the most important of it's time. I will say it will go down as the most comical Presidential election of all time. It has opened people's eyes. We are no longer as blinded by the media and nor do we believe that the government has our best interests at heart. I do not want to go into theories about this country, because I am one of those people who do not get all bent out of shape about them.

I still believe that we the people have power, but we do not know how to control that power. I believe that the two party system has failed us and it is time to wake up and elect officials that have our best interests in mind. I think that we can force the change we want to see. I know I do not want a president that thinks sexual assault is funny or a president who deletes emails. I also do not want a biased media who not longer believes that telling the truth is the correct thing to do. I want a country that no longer feeds off of money, but feeds off of integrity.

I believe we needed this election to change the way we view politics and our presidential candidates. I do not believe my options are the best nor do I agree with the things that have taken place this election, but I know one thing is for sure that I will help those who are willing to fight for change, because we no longer can allow ourselves to go up to the voting poll and simply vote for the lesser of two evils, because we did not watch men and women die, protests, and people be scrutinized for our right to simply vote for the lesser of two evils. People have died and put their entire life on the line for voting equality and this is how we repay them? We must vote on the lesser of two evils.

I hope our country wakes up by 2020 and we are never in this predicament again. Whether it be time to break the two party system or time to force career politicians into a new career. We, the people should be demanding change. We should be demanding corporations get out of our politics and our media. We should be demanding the truth and not a biased opinion when it comes to the election.

This election opened my eyes and I hope it opens yours because it is time for a change.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
