Going through a break up is hard enough, waking up each morning remembering that you are not going to get that "good morning" sweet text like you are used to getting. You think to yourself "what did I do wrong?" You sit and wonder what all you can change in the situation. Your mind starts weighing the pros and cons, all while trying to figure out if the best thing is to call or text them or not.
There will come a day when you realize that it is okay to let go. It is a piece of your past, which shaped you to who you are today. You should be thankful that someone loved you enough to give you their heart, do not take that for granted.
You realize all of the things that you are losing, not only just your relationship but things like their friends, their family, the times you shared together. As you look at your phone and go through your social media you realize that this is going to be a lot harder than what you thought. Every time you look at the photos app on your phone they are flooded with pictures of each other with the best times of your relationship. Note: THOSE WERE THE BEST TIME IN YOUR RELATIONSHIP. What people do not see, is the stuff you do not post, like the argument you had last week about something, or not agreeing on something. Social media is designed to show the best parts of people's lives. Have you ever looked at someone's social media account and said: "I want to be them?" What you do not know is what is behind those pictures, the in between moments that were not captured on photo.
As you realize that you also realize you are not alone. Maybe this is your first break up, but just know it is not going to be your last. People come and go for a reason, and each person leaves something in your heart that is meant to be there. You may feel like those spaces are now holes, that is okay. You need to realize that the pain may always be there, but it can not rain forever.
You are never going to be alone. Go out with friends, laugh, take a walk, find a new book, make new friends or open yourself up to people. Do not feel like just because your relationship did not work out that you are incapable of opening up to people. Show the world how big your smile can be, and use it to give good to the world. We only get one life on this earth, unless you're a cat, so make the most of the time you have. You are only young once, and these are the times that you will look back on.
You are okay, you are going to be okay, you are strong, you are you, and that is enough.
