There is an idea that has been created about how women are only beautiful if they meet the requirements that are set by society. It is often frowned upon if a model is a size larger than a 6. They can't be too "fat" or "ugly." They can't be too "muscular" or "thick." If they are too "big," they are labeled as a plus size model. If they are too small, they are labeled as anorexic or unhealthy.
Every single person in the world is different and unique. No two individuals are the same. Everyone has different body shapes and sizes. The regulations that the modeling industry and society place on women are unrealistic. People come in all shapes and sizes and therefore, so should models. Clothing is worn on people that are various sizes and in my opinion, it is unrealistic for models to only fit one specific body type. It is rarely spoken about in the media today but a new riot is gaining momentum.
Iskra Lawrence is an individual who is shedding light on a huge problem of this generation. She is changing many perspectives on models that don't fit the stereotype that has been created. Iskra Lawrence is a model that is labeled as plus size compared to other models of this time. Often, images of models that we see are altered and completely distorted from their original picture. Since society only sees the altered version, their ideals are based off of something extremely unrealistic. Iskra Lawrence is bringing these issues to the light.
Models should be seen as all shapes and sizes and shouldn't fit one ideal body image.
Photoshop and software are regularly used to improve the way in which someone appears. Iskra Lawrence took a stand and posted a picture of herself with junk food. She is hoping to show that a woman can still be beautiful even if they don't fit the ideals that have been created by society. Being a plus size model shouldn't be seen in a negative way because beautiful comes in all shapes and sizes.
With the overuse of Photoshop, society is creating a standard and ideal for a beautiful "woman" that is based off of an unrealistic example. Iskra Lawrence is asking people to take a stand and not listen to the negative words that others are saying about her. Individuals come in all shapes and sizes, and each and every single one is beautiful in their own way. Take a stand and join Iskra Larence on her website.
So, thank you. Thank you, Iskra, for speaking out about an issue that affects women all over the world.
