I know I sound like some news anchor giving the facts on the latest attacks with ISIS, but putting all facts aside -- because we all know CNN will take care of that -- the truth of the attack is major for Turkey. As many news stations broadcast headlines like “The Worst Attack Turkey has had in Over 13 years,” “Turkey Blames ISIS” and “War,” viewers automatically think this is a huge attack done by ISIS, and that they are taking their next steps for War. The attack was serious, but it has not yet been proven by Turkish officials or ISIS groups. The bomb went off in the heart of Istanbul’s most populated and touristy area, next to the Hagia Sophia.
The bomb killed over 10 innocent people and left 17 injured. Many killed were Germans, and officials found this to be a suspicious act and an attack on Germans -- the worst we have seen in 13 years. Most were tourists and even natives. It has not yet been proven or identified as a terrorist attack, yet the bomber was found to be from Syria but not on the list of Syrian Refugee’s. As of January 14th, ISIS just confirmed their recent attack on areas like Jakarta. Along with main targets: Istanbul, Philadelphia and Libya. ISIS says its main targets are areas within populated places that symbol western power that may threaten the ISIS groups. Growth of the modern world and immoral acts attract ISIS in a negative way.
They target places like high tourist areas, rock concerts and suicide bombings in Starbucks or local coffee shops, where you would least suspect it. ISIS has gone beyond the borders of their targets and has a team that spreads into other countries. It's scary to think about, but the world needs to face reality. Middle Eastern countries have come to realize that they will not be threatened by these terrorist attacks, and they will not hold back. Turkey's Prime Minister, Ahmet Davutoglu, refuses to take a step back from the situation and will be handling the attacks in many different ways, for this is a serious matter.
