Justin Bieber. Last we heard, he was driving drunk, illegally transporting a monkey across foreign borders, smoking weed, adding tattoo after tattoo to his already full sleeve, breaking Selena’s heart, getting back together, breaking up again, and on and on and on. The cute, hair-swooshing, innocent Canadian teen pop sensation had transformed in front of the public in the blink of an eye. Although Bieber had a strong group of Beliebers, his reputation was no doubt going down the drain.
In 2013, Bieber came out with the album "Journals." This album ended his bad year with extremely weak sales. All around, from critics to fans, people were extremely disappointed in the album. Bieber’s attempt at soft hip hop completely flopped.
In late February of 2015, Bieber’s vocals flooded back to the radio with the top hit “Where Are U Now,” musically produced by Diplo and Skrillex. As said by Billboard’s Jason Lipshutz, “The combination of Bieber’s moving falsetto and Skrillex and Diplo’s tangled knot of beats makes “Where Are U Now” a deserved (and much needed) triumph.”
With great momentum from “Where Are U Now”, Bieber came out strong with the singles “What Do You Mean,” “Sorry,” “I’ll Show You,” and “Love Yourself,” ultimately leading to his fourth studio album, "Purpose." The album is the fresh and more grown-up Bieber that fans and critics have been waiting for. With the release of the album, Bieber has created The Purpose Movement. The project is a compilation of music videos from the album's songs adding up to thirty minutes of video. These music videos have already gained much attention from the public and have sparked conversation about the controversial topics discussed in his songs, ranging from suicide prevention to children's rights. Bieber has most definitely grown up and shown the Beliebers that he is here to make a positive difference.
