Imagine a world today in which society has absolutely no form of online communication and technology.
It’s almost an inconceivable setting since it is engrained into everyone’s lives, or so it seems. Without human interaction, the world could see a potential downfall in the coming years.
Cell phones have been through a great deal of changes over the years and the innovations have really set forth society in a number of ways. Some innovations, however, may have set back society as well.
Our generation has become so technologically dependent that it may be hindering human communication as a whole. Whatever happened to calling each other's house phones, going over to your friend's house to see if he/she is available to hang out, or even face-to-face interaction in general?
It is quite apparent that individuals nowadays would much rather text than talk due to fear of interaction and/or social anxiety. While this is an ongoing issue in today's world, it is important to face the truth when it comes to being dependent on technology.
Checking our phones a hundred times a day, if not thousands, has become a norm.
The next time you go out into public, count the number of people that are looking down at their phones, potentially missing opportunities that are right there in front of them.
Quite honestly, I am guilty of it myself and I'm sure we can all relate.
What exactly is it that people constantly need to be checking? Why do they have to be connected 24/7? It seems as though individuals use their cell phones as a way to shield themselves from public humility.
If everyone put their phones down for a day and went out to have real life conversations with one another, then it could potentially create a lasting impact.
It is time for us to think about our actions and act accordingly. While it is important to stay connected with the ones you love, you may be missing out on the things happening around you at that moment in time.
So please, stop checking social media so often and put down your phones.
