Irrational: (adjective) \i-ˈra-sh(ə-)nəl, ˌi(r)-\
- not thinking clearly, not able to use good judgement, not based on reason
Everyone has at least one fear that others think are crazy or dramatic. Is it dramatic that I run away screaming and refuse to sleep in a room with a spider close to me? No, and I thank internet memes for that.
1. Spiders.
They are maybe the size of our thumb and they just evoke panic within most of the population. It's the fact that they disappear so quickly that is the issue, we don't know where you go or where you even came from, but you are not welcome. And forget about smushing them, they could be carrying millions of little devil spawns. Just burn your house down to be safe.
2. Murderer Behind The Curtain
Even if you haven't just finished watching Criminal Minds, drooling over Dr. Reid, you still may be cautious about using your bathroom when you can't fully see what or who is in your tub. It could be no one, it could be your roommate playing a prank, or it could be the Hash-Slinging Slasher.
3. Elevators, everything about them.
This is another fear I personally have. What if the elevator stops working and we are stuck between floors and no one can reach us and I'm stuck in this box with strangers forever? Doubtful. What if my foot somehow gets wedged in that abyss between the elevator floor and the actual floor? Ain't going to happen. What if when people jump to delay the elevator they somehow break he cord connecting us to the top of the building and we plummet to our deaths? It's all possible.
4. Never letting your feet hang over the bed because you just don't know.
It was a thing when we were children, monsters under the bed waiting to pull us under if a toe slipped over the edge. But now were older, can think clearer, and are hopefully wiser, but we still don't let those little piggies over the edge. Why? Because what if there really is something under my bed with a taste for feet and I let my guard down for an instant. We will keep them safe under our blankets just to be careful.
5. Bridges, over or under them.
They are pretty sturdy things, but of course the time you have to drive under one or on one something could happen. If you're under one, maybe there is a strong wind or too many cars on top and the bridge can't hold. Or if you're on the bridge, maybe by some unfortunate fate you wind up in the middle of Final Destination 5 when the bridge collapses. It could happen, it has happened, and it could happen to you.
6. Grates in the sidewalk.
They are literally holes in the ground, covered by smaller holes. You and little cute animals can fall in them. Need I say more?
7. Waterpark stairs.
Water and stairs don't mix. What if I slip through the crack in the stairs and fall down onto the concrete floor? Realistically, you probably can't fit through those cracks...but a small child could.
8. Checking the backseat of your car.
This goes back to a murderer behind your shower curtain, what if there's a murderer in your car. Better safe than sorry, so just take a quick peak to see what's back there.
9. Afraid to go in your cellar when you're alone.
You need a soda or a snack and it's in the cellar. But you just got done watching a scary movie or are just a cautious individual, so you think twice about going down there when no one else is in the house. There are a lot of places murderers can hide in a house, and a cellar seems like an optimal one.
10. Driving past a semi.
It's always a nerve-wrecking feeling having to drive part a semi on the highway. Those things could easily crush my puny car and keep on driving like nothing happened. It's even worse when it feels like they are in an alliance and trap cars between them.
