Here's everything you need to know about dining on Georgetown's campus.
1. Leo's
Leo's has a bad reputation primarily because it's the only official dining hall on campus, which tends to get repetitive. However, it's a staple accepted by many students. More seniors (SEAL's—Seniors Eating At Leo's) than you realize go every day by choice. Accepts meal swipes. Late Night Leo's (they're open extra hours on certain weeknights) isn't a half-bad study break.
2. Einstein's Bagels
This is the only establishment besides Leo's that accepts meal swipes. The drawbacks are that it gets crowded and occasionally runs out of food. Two locations: Regents and Car Barn. Regents is grab and go (and has Mrs. Franky, an amazing human being), while at Car Barn they prepare your bagel for you.
3. Hoya Court
Home to Elevation Burger, Subway, and Salad Creations. Not usually busy, except for that one week during which they accepted meal swipes. Located in the Leavey Center.
4. Starbucks
Typical Starbucks. Usually a medium-length line, and die-hard customers wait outside for it to open every morning. Also located in the Leavey Center, down a hallway and around the corner from Hoya Court.
5. Cosi
Not terribly busy, also not a bad study spot. Located in the Leavey Center, around the corner from Hoya Court and before the Starbucks.
6. Bulldog Tavern
Strategically created to keep students on campus for dinner. Tries to be fancy. Located in HFSC right next to the freshman dorm New South.
7. Vittles
It's a smaller-scale CVS that's 80 percent food and run completely by students. Open until 1 a.m. Located in the Leavey Center.
8. Hoya Snaxa
Basically a mini 7-Eleven right by the football field. Also student-run. A decent variety of drinks and snacks, but the highlight is a freezer full of Ben & Jerry's. Mmm...Americone Dream.
8. Hilltoss
The CORP (student-run organization in charge of Vittles, Snaxa, and the coffee shops) takes on Sweet Green (the M Street salad favorite). Known for salads, smoothies, and—most importantly—amazing bread. Located in the HFSC.
9. CORP Coffee Shops
Uncommon Grounds, Mug, Midnight Mug, Dr. Mug, etc. They all start to blend together, unless, of course, you work for the CORP. Purchased more for its caffeine than taste, the coffee is sufficient to fuel sleep-deprived college students. Located all over campus, most notably, the ICC, Lau 2 (the social floor of the library), and the Leavey Center.
10. Epi
Sweet sweet Epi. Home to drunchers and studiers alike. Plus people who work at the hospital eat here every day. Offers sushi (Peter = bae), pizza, sandwiches, salad and soup bar, smoothies, milkshakes, hopes, dreams, and quesadillas. Located underneath Darnall.
Special Mention: Although technically not on campus, look out for Wisey's, Wingo's, Sweet Green, Good Stuff, and of course, Tombs. I'll probably make a sequel article in their honor.
