Yes, I'm In An Interracial Relationship, No, That's Not A Problem

Imagine if we made every decision in our life based solely on what we see with our eyes and not what we feel in our hearts. We would live a less than mediocre life, going through the everyday motions with no actual feeling of attachment.

We would pick our childhood best friend based on their pretty pink shoes. Pick our first car based on the exterior of the vehicle and not what is under the hood. More importantly, pick our career based on the big beautiful skyscraper building and not on the benefits it provides our family.

We don't make commitments in life based on what we see, so why should we choose the person we love based on their outside appearance?

Who determines if you are right or wrong when finding the one you love? Should we fall into society's guidelines of who is meant to be together due to the matching of our skin tones? Or because of the moment when you look into someone's soul and realize it intertwines with yours.

Should we ignore the butterflies we feel in our stomach because still in today's society interracial relationships are still frowned upon?

I don't think we should.

Being in an interracial relationship is many things. Criticism based on who your heart decided to love, disgusted looks, name-calling and constant battles. The feeling of being judged and misunderstood becomes overwhelming at times, and many tears are cried.

But, most importantly, it's love.

Soulful and beautiful LOVE. It’s an unexplainable connection, a strong bond and battles fighting hand and hand together. Your heart opens up to your colored partner, it breaks for them. The compassion you both share and the strength of the relationship gets you both through society's racism. After all, love always wins!

Fight for the one you love and for what you believe in. Instead of ignoring the way society sees interracial relationships and pretending like it's not happening, we should be embodying the freedom to love someone based on who they are and not what they are.

I don't know about you, but I choose LOVE. I would choose it a million times over and over again.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
