Why Being An Instagram Model Isn't A Career

Why Being An Instagram Model Isn't A Career

There have been many times when I've gone on Instagram and clicked on a pretty girl's page only to realize that, yes, she is another Instagram model. Some people may ask, what is an Instagram model? An Instagram model is someone who posts many attractive selfies on Instagram. Usually, over time, these people gain enough followers to start promoting different products, like tea or waist trainers, for example. These Instagram models usually model for online clothing boutiques and do some photo shoots, as well as host parties and club events.

Personally, I have nothing against Instagram models, but it should not be anyone's day job. What I dislike about Instagram models is the fact that sometimes they promote products to their followers that are not necessarily good products to be endorsing. And since these Instagram models are people that women and men look up to, it is their unwritten responsibility to be a good role model to their followers.

I think that if someone is attractive and knows how to post good selfies, then they should stick to that. Yes, there is some money a person can receive from hosting events and endorsing products, but a career based on how many likes you will get on your selfie isn't really a career.

Good looks can only get you so far in life. Eventually, people want to know what else you have to offer. I'm sure there are plenty of Instagram models out there who do have more to offer than their looks, and they should use their follower count as a way to promote those other talents, not weight loss tea.

I appreciate the art of an incredible selfie— it is one of the reasons I have an Instagram account. But I don't need every attractive person I follow to start trying to sell me a waist trainer.

When Instagram falls off like MySpace did, what will Instagram models do then?

When someone is not a celebrity and just has a lot of followers, that means they will still probably need a day job, since I'm sure that all of the likes they receive do not pay the bills.

Likes mean nothing in real life. Instagram doesn't really define anything. It's just another social media platform you can posts pictures on.
