The Inevitable Thanksgiving Questions

It's finally my favorite time of the year: Thanksgiving. But with big, family dinners comes the dreaded "questions." It's the small talk conversations you don't want to have to answer but they are inevitable. Be prepared to have to answer them about 12 times.

1. How's college?

In my mind: "I have 3 exams next week so I should be studying right now and I haven't had a full night of sleep in weeks."

"Oh, it's just great."

2. What's your major?

In my mind: "You're just going to criticize me and not understand it when I tell you."

"Communication Studies."

3. Uh, why would you major in that?

In my mind: "Here we go."

"It's very practical in today's society and I really enjoy it"

4. But you have all As right?

In my mind: "Should I just round all my B's up to an A? I can pull them up over the next 2 weeks."

"Of course! I love all my classes."

5. So do you have a boyfriend?

In my mind: "My answer hasn't changed since you asked me this last month, the month before that, and the month before that."

"Not at the moment, I'm trying to focus on school."

6. Well, when do you think you'll get one?

In my mind: "Probably not anytime soon."

"Probably soon."

7. I'm sure you party all the time, right?

In my mind: "Why would you ask me that? You don't really want to know the real answer."

"No, of course, not."

8. Do you know what you want to do when you graduate?

In my mind: "Nope."

"There's just so many options, I don't know yet."
